Bits of Bliss: Ticking off items in my crafty bucket list

February 10th, 2013 (01:23 am)

Today I was able to make chili strawberry basil jam and solid perfume that's olive-tangerine-mint-scented. :) Read more about it in my craft blog! :)

Bits of Bliss: First craft feature in PDI, handmade V-day cards, washi'd uke

February 6th, 2013 (09:24 pm)

Just sharing the happy news: My washi projects were featured in a major broadsheet, last Saturday. Check out the article online here. One of my craft idols, Fozzy, mentioned my washi collages to Pam of PDI and this is the result. Thank you so much Fozzy and PDI! It's such an honor to be featured alongside other crafty Pinays (who are also my craft idols, by the way). I feel so lucky and blessed! :)

I think I might have mentioned that V-day is one of my favorite holidays, since it gives me the excuse to be extra-mushy and cheesy, haha. Thought I'd send some V-day surprise snailmail to some friends, featuring LSP and handmade cards:

Hope they like it!

I also received a nice surprise last weekend, my lolo's ukulele! I've been interested in taking uke lessons and I told myself I would if this was found (it survived Ondoy and countless floodings in our hometown, Malabon) and I guess this is a sign. Perfectly timed! I covered it with washi tape to make it personalized:

Experimented with making handmade paper medallions for decor for a friend's event:

Bits of Bliss: Craft time!

February 1st, 2013 (11:14 pm)

I vowed that 2013 will be the year when I'd stop hoarding and start using my existing craft materials but I fail in the 'stop hoarding' part. I have been exploring more ways to use my hoarded washi though. More details in my craft blog, but here's a preview of what I've been up to, craft-wise:

My first commissioned washi'd fashion collage! Danica wanted something "oriental" with lots of red washi:

I also tried papercutting again!

Bits of Bliss: Fun with friends and family

January 20th, 2013 (12:31 am)

This post is very, very late, but I want myself to remember the fun I had with these amazing people when I'm old and more forgetful so here it is.

Craft shenanigans

January 12th, 2013 (12:42 pm)

Hello lj friends!
I've posted some craft tutorials and other craft-related obsessions at my craft blog.

Lately I made these rubber stamps that can make a pattern and some collaged cards with calligraphy and washi tape.

I also painted on sea glass, planning on making these into pendants:

Do check it out! :)

Exploring the Universe: An artsycraftsy birthday

My birthday celebration involved a museum trip and a visit to a magical pottery wonderland. I think I sort of died and went to artsycraftsy heaven. Oh, and Lumpy Space Princess tagged along.

Artsycraftsy goals for 2013

January 3rd, 2013 (10:42 pm)

I always enjoy listing down things I’d like to try this lifetime and last year was special, because it was particularly filled with travel-related adventures and craft-related ventures. To motivate myself, I made a list for this year, and this is also me informing the Universe about a very concrete wishlist.

What are your craft/life goals for 2013?

Bits of Bliss: Good vibes for 2013!

January 1st, 2013 (09:57 pm)

I want to remember the start of 2013 as a weekend filled with good vibes, good food, and family fun. I'm still thinking of a 365 project that I won't tire of, but one thing's for sure. 2013 will be magical. I will dare myself to look for magic in the unlikeliest of places and I will arm myself with eyes open to wonder. Bill Cunningham couldn't have said it better when he quoted: "If you look for beauty, you'll find it.".

With this in mind, instead of sleeping in our cozy room, I took my camera with me and did some "exploring". I played in the playground, conquered my fear of swinging high, saw Escher-like stairs, and flies that looked like a million little fairies. The colors in the playground reminded me of summer, the pool looked like something from an FLB story, the unusually-shaped rocks in the grassy field made me think of buried treasure. I discovered that a caterpillar wanted to be my friend, and saw a mom and her child reading, bathed in glow of the afternoon sun.

I listened to where my heart and feet wanted to take me.

December 29th, 2012 (10:35 pm)

Our family spent our holidays at Batangas. We ate at Casa Rap, which was a charming, quaint resto and stayed at Estrellas de Mendoza which had a lovely view:

2012-The Year That Was

December 24th, 2012 (08:56 pm)

I started the year with this resolution. To help me achieve that, I planned to split each month into tiny goals to help me become closer to my main goal. Which I did, for a month or two. Heh. Despite my monthly-goal laziness, I think it's safe to say that this year really was the year of "Extra Happiness."

What made me extra happy this year:

1. That AUS/NZ trip!

2. Ticking off a LOT of items in my ever-changing bucket list

* Of importance: Fashion school! Stand up paddle boarding!

3. Meeting a lot of crafty friends, thanks to the intrawebs and to Instagram! (and to shameless fangirling hihi). Being able to attend a lot of crafty activities and being part of WAA hahaha.

* P.S. I was a featured Pinay crafter at boredandcrafty! Check out this post. Thanks, boredandcrafty!

* P.S.S. I also shared a tutorial at Hey Kessy's blog! Learn about embellishing your illustrations with washi tape here. Thanks, Hey Kessy!

4. Conquering that dreaded Saturn return with my sanity intact

5. Boracay trip with my one and only

I got everything my heart wanted this year and couldn't ask for
anything more. Next year will be even more special. I hereby declare 2013 as....

2013: The Year of Wonder and Magic

I came up with the following goals to make 2013 a great year:

♥ Be more aware. By this I mean I want to be in tune with what my body wants/needs (rest, healthy food, exercise) and what my soul needs as well (a time for meditation, reflection, talking to the Universe). I also need to notice the small things that make up the beautiful whole, pay attention to things otherwise unnoticed/taken for
granted.

♥ Open up to the beautiful possibilities this life has to offer. I must be brave enough to accept that dreams do come true. How many times have I listed items in my bucket list, only to have it happen in a week or so? I really should aim high and keep listing my dreams.

♥ Believe in myself. I have some dreams that I'm afraid of telling others because I fear they might be too ambitious but maybe they'll come true this year? I do know that I have to practice to achieve said dreams though.

♥ Collect things I love. What inspires me? I need to surround myself with it for continuous inspiration

♥ Create. Craft more, draw more, do more DIY projects.

♥ Great friends are magical. (Additional points for making new friends!)

♥ Consider less documenting and more "experiencing". This is a hard one and my memory's shot most of the time, but maybe instead of stressing about capturing the perfect moment, it might help to just immerse myself in the moment, and proceed to document it after the moment is over but while I still remember it.

♥ Save up for the magic of the moving picture. I need to watch more movies with people I love. The film Hugo reminded me of why there's something so fantastic and special about seeing movies in the big screen. Preferably with nice munchies and even nicer company. I particularly like how we stay awake talking about what we've just seen together, about the parts we love and about some parts that need clarification (because my attention span is like that of a five-year-old).

♥ Continue snailmailing. 2012 had me spoiled! I was able to receive postcards and thoughtful, handmade items from all over the world. The joy I experience when I receive snailmail is priceless, so more of this for 2013.

♥ Learn more about skills/crafts that I'm interested in. (Glass sculpting, Silkscreen printing, Locksmithery hehe, among others)

♥ Give thanks. My IG feed has been converted to things I love and things I'm thankful for, so, just to reiterate: Thank you to my friends (old and new), to my one great love and to my family. You continue to inspire me to create and share my blessings. Thank you also to the greatest: Love you, Universe!
